Prostate Cancer Partners (PCP)

This is a separate, but very connected group, originally formed by the wives and partners of members of the Cotswolds Prostate Cancer Support Group.

Val Copsey has now very kindly taken over the baton for co-ordinating the group, as Penny has stepped down after running the group for 6 years.

The aim of PCP is to provide informal, friendly support for the wives, partners, carers, family and friends of men who have been affected by prostate cancer.

Sharing problems and concerns in a group who have experienced many of the same things can help you feel less alone and more understood. Just finding out about the practicalities can be enormously reassuring and it is sometimes easier, in a smaller group, to ask any questions you may have about the impact of prostate cancer.

Where and when

We normally meet once a month on a Wednesday, nine days after the main CPCSG meeting (which is held on the second Monday of each month) so that partners of newly diagnosed men have the opportunity to join the group as soon as possible.

Meetings are usually held at:

      • Beefeater
      • Longford Inn
      • Tewkesbury Road
      • Longford
      • Gloucester
      • GL2 9BE
      • 01452 523519

Meetings last from 7pm to about 9pm. They are usually held at Table Table, at the Oakwood pub, Twigworth where two tables are booked in the restaurant - one for men and one for women, with privacy for both groups. As this is a drop-in meeting, there is no need to book in advance. This is a Brewer's Fayre restaurant with a good selection of reasonably priced food and drinks available. Occasionally, a meeting is held at a different venue - particularly at New Year - so it is advisable to confirm with Val where the meeting will be on .

Have a bite of supper, a pudding or just a drink – it’s up to you.

If you, or someone you know, would find it helpful to make contact with the Prostate Cancer Partners group, we would be pleased to hear from you.
