Prostate Cancer Support Association (Virtual) AGM

Thursday, 15th April 2021

Prostate Cancer Support Association AGM - 7:30 pm Thursday 15th April 2021

We held our AGM at 7:30 pm on Thursday 15th April 2021.

Due to current restrictions the meeting was held online using Zoom.

The formal part of the AGM lasted for about half an hour. It was followed by a talk from Sarah Gray, Tackle Prostate Cancer’s National Support and Development Manager. Sarah spoke to us about her work to develop peer-to-peer support for men with prostate cancer. Sarah aims to develop and grow Tackle’s network of patient-led Prostate Cancer Support Groups across the country. She will work with healthcare professionals to set up new support groups in identified areas and encourage referral for peer-to-peer support. These groups should promote themselves in their local communities as providing peer support to men with prostate cancer. Patients can be supported through buddying schemes and also encouraged to share experiences with each other while joining in shared activities such as walking football, or cycling. Sarah emphasised the importance of making contact with patients at the point of diagnosis.
Sarah also has plans to re-launch the Tackle web site as a “member’s portal”. She emphasised the power of people’s stories to influence those in a position to establish and promote support groups.

Sarah's interesting talk provoked many questions. You can find out more about her work at ...........

PSA Testing Events

We have now held three very successful events since September last year. Our most recent event was on 12 March at the Coventry Sphinx Club. For all these events we used the GF online booking system. As a result they have run smoothly with minimal queuing and proper social distancing. Our next event will be held on 11 June at the Willenhall Social Club, Coventry - see Coming Events for more detail.
