Working with Widgets
Widgets are used for some key information about your group that you would like to appear on every page of your website. They are a great way to attract attention.
There are three types of widget:
- Basic Content which you could use, for example, for information about your support group meetings in general or something that you particularly want to highlight;
- Calendar which you could use to display forthcoming events eg next support group meeting(s), a particular fundraising event, your AGM;
- News which you could use to display recent news about your group eg a report on your AGM, the appointment of a new Chairman, the results of a particular fundraising event.
We recommend that you don't have more than three widgets.
When you create the Calendar and News widgets, you can link them to specific Pages on your site. It is probably best to create those pages first and then create the widgets so that you can select the Page field to link to.
By default, the Calendar and News widgets display, respectively, the next five events coming up and the five most recent news items.
