UHCW Support Group Meeting - Monday 4th February
Monday, 4th February 2019
This group primarily comprises recently treated men and some newly diagnosed men. It meets on the first Monday of every other month at 5:30pm in the Faith Centre, UHCW. The first meeting this year was on February 4th. Dr Yakhub Khan gave a most interesting talk on radiotherapy and treatments for advanced prostate cancer. These treatments are continually evolving in the light of clinical trials. He also discussed the situation of men whose PSA has returned following earlier radical treatment. Traditionally, the accepted level for intervention has been a PSA of around 10. However, Dr Khan explained that if there are no signs of cancer in the bones or soft organs, then treatment can be postponed. He quoted a man having a PSA of 200 who did not require intervention!
The next meeting will be on Monday 1st April. The topic will be Lymphodema.
Our next Prostate Health Awareness event will be held on Saturday 5th October at the Lutterwoth Club, Lower Leicester Road, Lutterworth, LE17 4NF. As usual we continue to use the Graham Fulford online booking system. As a result our events run smoothly with minimal queuing and adequate social distancing. See Coming Events for more detail.
