CORONAVIRUS NEWS FROM UROLOLOGY AT LEIGHTON HOSPITAL
Tuesday, 24th March 2020
Margaret Lyttle, consltant in the Urology department at Leighton Hospital has contacted the Group with some information on how the Coronavirus situation is impacting the service the Urology department is currently offering. She asked that the following should be made known to patients:-
‘From a local perspective, we are continuing to see patients in clinic where this is urgent and telephone clinic would not be appropriate, the rest are being offered telephone clinic follow up where possible or appointments deferred until after the current situation. Both Stepping Hill and The Christies have contingency plans for Urology patients in place.’
Margaret also included a link to a good source of general information on Urological advice.
The British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS) has updated their guidelines in the light of the current situation. The BAUS website has a patient section and an area for patients specific to COVID-19 at https://www.baus.org.uk/patients/covid19_patient_information.aspx.
This is a reliable source of unbiased information for people who may have questions or concerns about their treatment. Obviously the situation is evolving and there may be further changes in the future.
