Last i-Weekend Newspaper's front page headline was "Cancer Treatment Revolution. Doctors use artifical Intelligence (AI) to outwit cancer in glimpse of future medicine." Inside the paper, there was a paragraph on how AI had stopped a patient's prostate cancer from spreading. The full article is reproduced here....

A plaque was unveiled on Thursday 2nd August 2018 at Leighton Hospital in Crewe to celebrate the work done by Gary Steele and the Prostate Cancer Support Group that he founded in 2000. The plaque, which houses Gary's MBE medal and a photograph of the presentation to Gary by Prince Charles in 2012, is sited in the main reception area of the hospital. The inscription reads:
"Gary Steele MBE. Founder & Chairman of Leighton Hospital Prostate Cancer Support Group 2000-2017. With the gratitude of the Hospital".
This report was found on the Prostate Cancer UK website. A Freedom of Information (FOI) request from Prostate Cancer UK has found that large parts of the UK still don’t have access to the latest diagnostic scans for prostate cancer, eighteen months after the PROMIS trial first proved multiparametric MRI (mpMRI) before a biopsy could radically boost detection of prostate cancer and cut unnecessary biopsies. While there has been a 63% increase in access overall since last year, the NHS data revealed many hospitals in Wales and Northern Ireland don’t offer the scans at all, and their availability and quality in England and Scotland varies hugely.

The photo shows Kevin Hammersley with our Chairman David Laundon showing the "Salt of the Earth" award for an Outstanding Organization. This award was presented by Nantwich Town Council to the group. Kevin had also accepted an award on behalf of the group in recognition of eight years' PSA testing of the men of Nantwich.
