Coventry & North Warwickshire PCSG Open Meeting - Thursday 22 August
Thursday, 22nd August 2019
Timon Colegrove gave us an excellent talk and ensuing discussion re his experience of proton beam therapy. That said, it was so much more than an encounter with new technology!
Timon eloquently told his personal story describing step by step how he reacted to and dealt with the devastating news of his cancer and how he worked to find a treatment that zapped the cancer without the attendant side effects that so many of us have had to endure and come to terms with. His feelings and reasoning resonated with us all.
Yes, proton beam therapy is a new, highly focussed, and potentially game-changing therapy. While we might have to wait 10 years for clinicians to have meaningful comparisons with established radical treatments – there's no disputing the immediate benefits of significantly reduced side effects.
Our thanks to Timon for a memorable evening.
Our next Prostate Health Awareness event will be held on Saturday 15th June at the Coventry Sphinx Sports and Social Club, Siddeley Ave, Coventry, CV3 1WA. As usual we continue to use the Graham Fulford online booking system. As a result our events run smoothly with minimal queuing and adequate social distancing. See Coming Events for more detail.
